In response to the enthusiastic feedback from the Society’s membership, we have expanded the annual conference to 2 full days. This year's activities in San Diego, November 1-2, will begin Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. and conclude on Friday evening prior to the Society for Neuroscience events which start on Saturday, November 3. The INS annual meeting is an official satellite of the SfN conference.

The program for the 2018 INS Annual Meeting features a wide range of lectures and symposia, education and networking activities for professionals at all stages of their career.

All attendees must register in advance or onsite to participate in this event. Registration includes admittance to the full 2-day schedule of events, including a Thursday boxed lunch and evening reception as well as Friday’s continental breakfast, boxed lunch, and poster reception.

Online registration is closed. Prospective attendees may register onsite.

Notice of cancellation and requests for a refund must be received by staff by September 30, 2018, 5:00pm EDT. A cancellation processing fee will be deducted from all refunds ($25 for students, trainees, and postdocs and $50 for regular members, affiliates, and non-members). Dietary Restrictions

The registration form provides an opportunity to declare dietary restrictions. To the best of our ability, INS staff will work with food vendors to meet your needs.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Individuals and organizations can provide support for the INS Annual Meeting with financial contributions, in-kind donations, program advertisements, or by sponsoring a specific activity at the meeting.

Logistics, Hotels and Travel

Activities for the 2018 INS Annual Meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 1 at the San Diego Central Library (Shiley Special Events Suite, 330 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101). We encourage you to build time into your travel arrangements to make this time. Events on Friday, November 2 will also be held at the San Diego Central Library and are scheduled to conclude after the evening reception at 7:30 p.m. View the meeting program for a complete schedule of events.


If you plan to attend the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) meeting November 3-7, you can book a hotel room through their Housing and Travel services. SfN also offers a Roommate Matching Forum for attendees looking to save on expenses.

For those not attending SfN, San Diego hotels are available by using a travel website or agent. The SfN meeting website provides a hotel list and interactive city map which may help you choose a place to stay. Please note, the room rates listed on the SfN website may not be available to all customers booking independently.


The San Diego International Airport (SAN) is the primary hub for air travel, located 3 miles from downtown San Diego and accessible by taxi and shuttle services. Other nearby commercial airports, as well as military and private airfields are also available.

Ground Transportation

Taxis, car services, and the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) are available for your travel needs in and around San Diego.

Venue Parking

The San Diego Central Library has limited, fee-based underground parking for visitors.
