Travel Stipends

IBRO Stipends

The International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) is generously offering travel stipends specifically to support young women and people from ethnic minority groups working in under-resourced countries to attend the 2018 INS Annual Meeting, held Thursday and Friday, November 1-2, 2018, in San Diego, CA, USA.

With IBRO's generous support, the International Neuroethics Society (INS) will be awarding €4000 (Euros) among 4 to 6 individual stipend winners. The value of each stipend is expected to be between $800 and $1250 (USD), based on current exchange rates. Stipends may only be used for travel to the 2018 INS Annual Meeting and applicants are responsible for providing receipts for airfare and hotel accommodations.

To be eligible to receive this stipend, individual researchers must work in an under-resourced country—defined by the World Bank as 'low,' 'lower-middle,' or 'upper-middle income'—and submit an abstract for presentation at the INS Annual Meeting. Submitted abstracts must meet all requirements and be accepted by the INS Program Committee. Please review the call for abstracts for submission requirements and details.

Even though the abstract submission deadline is late June, we strongly encourage all researchers from eligible countries to submit abstracts by June 1. This will allow the Program Committee to provide early notices informing authors that their abstract has been accepted with enough time for authors to apply for and acquire a visa to travel to the meeting.

Applicants must be aware that it is their responsibility to obtain the necessary visa and any other additional documentation to enter the United States. The INS cannot intervene on behalf of applicants applying for a visa to influence the decisions by passport and border control authorities. However, if requested, the INS can provide a letter confirming that the applicant's abstract has been accepted for the 2018 INS Annual Meeting and are expected to give a presentation.
